Deb's House

"Deb's House" Copyright Debbie Wright

While cleaning and organizing "house" and 25 years of gathering, we are finding some real gems. This is art by my daughter Debbie. It reminded me of the time my wife was standing just outside our house, when a fox came trotting down the path. Both were "matter of fact" and the fox headed off while my wife was left with a wonderful memory.

Busier Than a One Armed Paper Hanger

Looks like I've been neglecting my posts lately. I have been SO busy trying to prep my house for sale. 25 years in the same place and a bad case of hoarding and VOILA.....clatter and crap. We are trying to download, downscale, down size and make a smaller footprint.

Blessings to You all

Putting Away the Paint Brush...For Now

Thank You Anonymous for the very kind comments on my paintings. I really appreciate hearing that and it makes me want to paint even more...BUT!

I have had a dream to move up to North Bay area. I have been toying with it now for years. I know the time is now. All the indicators are there. Just to help me stay motivated, a friend of mine leaves me voice messages and email messages and text messages and real life verbal messages that go exactly like this. "Don, put down your paintbrush and get to work on your house!" He is right, so I have put down my paintbrush and I'm working on my house and affairs. We hope to have it ready for listing in a few weeks. I have a list and I'm rapidly acheiving.

I've almost got all my certifications complete. I have a few unfinished projects that I must finish and I have to paint. Macro paint...not fine art paint. Paint on the ceilings and paint on the walls. I am allowed no artistic measure. The colours have been chosen by our agent. I took a week off work and I'm going gangbusters decluttering and cleaning. I have taken many trips to the dump and have already taken a load up North. I have a storage spot that overlooks Lake Nippissing. Its breath taking. I know its only a storage spot, but it means a lot to me knowing the view from my lockup. I have a ton of space too. I'm going to take another trip up in a couple of weeks with more stuff.

I am very excited about the move and there is much we dont know yet. Sue and I have looked at a number of housing possibilities ranging from down town NorthBay to Suburban Sturgeon Falls , to native reserve land at Jocko Point, to a farm in Verner to a Garden Center on the TransCanada or even to camp for a while in Temegami like I have been dreaming.

So many possibilities inticately woven by things yet out of our control or knowledge at this time. We have chosen to simply have faith that all the pieces will fall where they should.

.........and then I can pick up my paintbrush and play in my new sandbox.

peace be the journey

A Song For Ben

This is a song, well part of a song that my nephew Benjamin Wright wrote. When I resurrected my PC music studio a couple of weeks ago, I found some old recordings that Ben and I did when he was quite young. He had written some really beautiful songs and we had the pleasure of spending a week in the home studio. It was quite fruitful and produced a few powerful songs.

Well here I am at my buddies place and I was singing this song in my head and since I keep a guitar here, and since he has a camera and high speed, I thought I would share this song. I am not really sure the name of the song...doh, so I'm going to call it "A Soul Such as Mine" and then comment to correct myself. The song is also missing a bridge which frankly I couldnt even begin to try to do, so here it is.Oh and the PC crashed and my studio is lost again....for now.

Benjamin Wright, I love you and I am so proud of the person you are.

To The Dentist - Nokomis

"To The Dentist" - copyright © Nokomis

I gave my copy of  "To The Dentist" to a business aquaintance who left our company. The truth is, I wanted to give it to him, yet, I wanted to keep it. So, I re-aquired this piece. I gave away number 16/500 and now have 199/500. I especially love the story that is associated with this piece. If you get a chance you really need to go to Nokomis website and read. Here is a link. blessings....and read the story...trust me..its awesome! http://www.native-art-in-canada.com/goingtothedentist.html

Dancing in the Rainbows

I came home from a few hours of jamming to find my wife dancing in the rainbows. Patti, the machine you made us was casting wonderful rainbows today! Sue was dancing in the rainbows and reminding herself how much she loved you guys. When we dance in the rainbows we cant help but be reminded of good times and peaceful; times. Times of joy and wholeness. The rainbow is a marvellous promise and gift from the creator. To think that all this magic is contained in the creators light. One needs to only see it to appreciate it. I need to try use these particular colours vibrantly in my art work and etch them in my mind. They are colours of beauty and completeness and joy.

Memory Lane

I love this picture. This was a Christmas present we gave the family a number of years ago. This was done in a mall in one of those center booths. It was fun. We were told to look serious. I laugh now because I am the shortest person in our family. I realized this week that even my daughter is taller than me!

cheers to good memories

Happy New Year! Twenty Ten

Hey Happy New Year everyone!

I noticed that my web counter just hit 10,500. Wow....thats a lot for me.....I think. Not sure what it really means though. I dont think its very accurate and I am not motivated by my counter. Heck there have been times in my illustrious writing carear when I was lucky to hit 10 a week. I just keep writing and posting I guess mostly for myself and the one or two special people who are drawn to my blog for their own reasons.

Actually, it was my mom who encouraged me to begin to journal. I have a number of faith stories that have happened to me, and my mom suggested I get them down in writing so as not to forget. Hahaha, I began to write my blog and I dont think I ever stopped to re-tell any of those stories....I really should.

Its fun to look back. Its interesting to see how ideas change and to see where one has been. So many memories.....good and bad.

I dont do facebook and I dont do twitter. I am not really interested in social networking. I just got stuff to say and I needed a place to say it. Blogspot has always worked for me and I figure if it aint broke......dont fix it. I've met a number of friends across this planet from my blogspot as well. It has seen me through many phases of life.

Oh. if you are reading this Hanni, I want to send you our love and best wishes. You are very special. I am not sure if you know or realize or acknowledge, but I see in you a love and wisdom and beauty that is a treasure for this world...my world. Its been a year since you sent me a letter. If you happen to be hangin out and feel like sending me a note, I sure would love that. I trust, hope and pray that you are well and that if you ever need a freind you can still count on me.
