Beavers on the Sturgeon
The beavers are getting ready for winter. Lately, they have been focusing their energies on collecting winter food, which they pile in front of their lodge. They eat the bark of tender shoots of hardwood. This is one of the largest lodges I have seen. It is off the main river, sheltered and protected. I pulled the boat over and hiked a bit to get this shot. There are many families of beavers on my stretch of the river. They are fun to watch.
