My name is Don Wright and I am a student of the Thunderbird School of Shamanistic Arts. My unexplored talent lay dormant for 48 years until awakened by Norval Morrisseau and his protégé Ritchie “Stardreamer” Sinclair. I bought my first paint set November 3, 2009. My progression as an artist has been nurtured by a number of fellow students of Spirit who like me, have been called to paint in the tradition of the great Ojibway known as Anishnaabe Art. This art is Shamanistic Art, also known as Medicine Art.

The intent of my art is to reflect the positive aspects of Spirit and to be an instrument of the Creator. Viewing my art, one should feel moved by the virtues of Love, Joy and Peace. My paintings speak to your heart and soul, and fill you with a sense of balance and unity with both creation and Creator. My paintings compel you to dream, imagine and explore your relationship with Spirit. My paintings bring you healing, peace and assurance that all is well.

While I am not Anishnaabe I am a Canadian whose heart beats in unison with our First Nation peoples. We are all in Spirit. My artwork is a manifestation of the vision of Norval Morrisseau, the founder of Anishnaabe art, who desired to bring out the Indian-ness hiding within each of us.
