Thank God It's Tuesday

God’s Love and Ours

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.

16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.

20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

That Was Weird

I'm still scratching my head. Somewhere around 2pm yesterday, I suddenly felt dizzy and weird, like I had some sort of motion sickness. I felt light headed for a moment and then everything was fine. About 30 minutes later, I took a call from a client telling me about an earthquake 30 minutes prior. That was weird. This morning I brushed it off as coincidence and my wife said...."I wouldn't be so sure about that, I think you are in tune with the earth"

Jerry Douglas - Dobro Magician

Dalai Lama Love Wisdom

The goal is to cultivate in our hearts the concern a dedicated mother feels for her child, and then focus it on more and more people and living beings. This is a heartfelt, powerful love. Such feelings give us a true understanding of human rights, that is not grounded just in legal terms, but rooted deeply in the heart.

Changing of the Seasons Ceremony 2011 Lake Obabika

"Beating the Drum in His Homeland - Alex Mathias" Copyright Mary Senchuk 2011
Over the weekend of September 17th, 2011 Alex Mathias, an Ojibway Elder, will host his annual Changing of the Seasons Ceremony to celebrate the fall equinox on his traditional family territory in the Temagami region of Ontario.
On Saturday there will be a 'Changing of the Seasons' ceremony, a group potluck lunch, visits to Spirit Rock, and guided hikes through the old-growth red and white pine forest. Attendees have the option of participating in group events after the ceremony, exploring the area on their own, or simply enjoying some quiet time on the lake. There is no structured agenda for the weekend and Sunday is an open day which may include a guided canoe excursion for those who are interested.

Participants are expected to provide their own food, camping gear, and if possible, canoes. Boat shuttles can be arranged for attendees who are not able to paddle across the lake to the gathering site on their own. Many people will be located at the main campsite on the north end of Obabika Lake where the ceremony will take place, however there are numerous other sites around the lake that people can use when there is a larger group.

We recommend that people leave on Friday morning (it is an 8 hour drive from Toronto) to ensure they arrive with some daylight. If you need a ride or you have a vehicle with space for others, let us know - we will do our best to set up carpools for registered participants. Please be aware that the last stretch of the drive is extremely rough and slow going (directions will be provided once you have registered).

All are welcome! If you have never been to Temagami and have always wanted to go, this is a great opportunity to experience the wilderness in a group setting.

A minimum donation of $20 per adult is requested to help offset the costs of the event.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Amber Ellis at 416-599-0152 x11 / amber@earthroots.org

I am planning on attending this event. If any of my friends or readership are interested, I can help you to attend. This is one of the most beautiful places on earth and very very high on my recommendation list. This trip is not for the faint of spirit!......it will take many hours, by many means!

This Goes Out to Brenda in London

Letter to Hooked on Pets - Sturgeon Falls

Hi...long time no see.
I bought a male budgie and a cage from you this spring.
We also got a cat on the same day.
Both are doing wonderfully well and have become part of our family.

Here is a picture of budgie Niijii perched on my buddies glasses.
Everyone says this is the most incredible bird they have ever seen.
Niijii does not live in his cage.
He is free to fly the entire house.
He prefers his perch in the window in my office and we spend 8:30 - 5PM together at work.
My clients all laugh as he chatters and chatters.
He has begun to speak and says Niijii, Bird, Birdie bird, good boy, good bird,
whatareyadoin, kitty cat, kitty kitty kitty, 2 distinct whistles
as well as his own budgie language which we have come to understand.
We are adding new words to his vocabulary weekly.
He still allows himself to be kissed on the neck, like you did every day,
and he still gets his 4 times a day kisses.
This is the most incredible bird I have ever seen!
Thank you for the early attention and love you gave him....it paid off!!!!!
Cheers!

Tubing

I tried to water ski and failed miserably. So did my buddy Pete. He did however have a tube in storage. After considering our defeat, we decided it was time to dig out the tube.....what a blast!!! I decided to sit higher in the tube and it resulted in a faster, crazier ride and then it happened. I hit the water like it was a brick wall. Sue said I bounced across the top for a few skips before plunging. My only regret is that I lost my sunglasses.

Beside Still Waters

"Beside Still Waters" - Copyright Debi Fitzgerald
Limited Edition A/P 1 of 3

I was gifted this beautiful Limited Edition Print by Debi Fitzgerald. I happened to have a picture hook on the wall with no picture. The painting is now hanging on that empty hook right above our TV. Its a perfect match! The colours and the size are perfect. Its as if that spot sat empty for this print. I also like the subject matter. It could have been painted right here off my dock! Beside Still Waters is a great name for a painting. Still waters run deep. Cheers to artists and how they beautify the world.
